We, the Students of Florence M. Gaudineer’s Second Period Seventh Grade Social Studies class, propose a policy to make the PARCC testing more fair for the students and teachers. We propose the following:

· To be given multiple options of short constructed response questions

· More detailed feedback to help us improve

· Testing days spread throughout the school year

All we find out with the current form of the test is our overall score based off of a rubric. The graded tests should have more feedback, including the rubric, so students and teachers can know exactly what they need to improve on. Also, the state should be spread out the four testing days throughout the year, one in each quarter. This would remove extenuating circumstances that can affect our testing scores, like allergy season, divorce, ill family member, or loss of a family member. Students would also be able to focus more on the individual days of testing because they would not feel overwhelmed. This proposed solution would be a better choice for the students, the teachers, and the state, and would provide New Jersey with a truly fair testing system.
