Let them Play! To all of you out there saying “please” to exercise your right to assemble wake up and stop begging a guy who doesn’t care. This is America, and we pay taxes for those fields they are keeping off limits unlawfully. Don’t wait for these associations and leagues to help they will only fight to their comfort level and only fight because they too are losing money. If money wasn’t involved you wouldn’t hear from them either. So if you really care and want to do this for the love of the game write the Governor directly. We don’t need to be handheld by a guy that probably never played a sport in his life. To the guy that said this is an Empty gesture, I agree! The gov has zero intention of letting us play real games or tournaments. You just all choose to be following, do as your told sheep rather than do the right thing. So yeah, keep begging to play, say please or may I and don’t cry come September and you still haven’t played a game. MLB players will start making their millions again and our children fall into deeper despair and depression Thanks Phil great job

Rather than type the same mundane Let Them play it’s obvious if I am signing the petition that it’s what I want. Governor is a toad and is making every wrong decision possible. It’s not about saving lives it’s about what’s going to make the most money. I get the whole opening the economy but it’s the fake care that gets me. It’s the way that this guy thinks we are stupid that gets me. If he cared there is no way beaches would have opened first and no way casinos would open before baseball games are allowed. I take offense that as a coach he doesn’t trust me to take care of the kids I’m responsible for but trusts the Major League Baseball, football and basketball teams to start practices and competition. Thank God we have a vote because I voted for Guadagno and I will vote against this passive coward of a governor So yeah let them play NOT just practice and trust the adults who are actually doing it for years.

Small businesses being crushed in the Governors words means youth sports leagues etc being included in an aggressive but safe opening. A lot of valid points in this petition and commentary. I can’t help but agree that youth sports should have been opened before these mass gatherings on beaches and boardwalks. I voted for Mr. Murphy but seeing how terribly he is handling this pandemic, our money, nursing homes and his general malaise towards helping our youth instead of helping his own personal agenda, I will not make that mistake again. Play Ball now

As long as proper safety precautions are taken, kids should be given opportunity to participate in baseball -- and should be treated no more stringently than adults/families who are allowed to go to the parks and beaches. Children are not high risk to get the disease, and they need the exercise and this important social experience after being isolated from their peers for an extended amount of time!

I signed this petition because I want our kids to play and appreciate the advocating you guys are doing but I hope you really not fooled by this weakling Govs fake overture. If he really wanted them to play we wouldn’t have to wait a month more just to practice. If he really cared about our kids and not the money or the rich of NJ, he would have done this a month ago before golf, tennis, and the ultimate white collar game now, picKleball. Also take notice if you have the time to do some internet research, how many politicos currently serving NJ including in the state police have kids playing soccer. Notice how soccer was added also. Last I checked there is a hell of a lot more contact in soccer. This little crumb he threw us was basically to shut us up. We don’t make enough money for this guy to care like the shore does and we haven’t cried as loud as the schools have (yet) so he’s allowed graduations ( also a lot less safe than baseball) and I can have a 25 person party in my yard but can’t put 9 kids on a field. Good luck to all with this but don’t be too shocked if this is where it ends and not a tournament will be played. #NotMyGovernor
