We chose the IP programme because of the location. MOE should deliver the promise made to the students ans parents. We are very disappointed that MOE requires more than 4 years to build a new JC and extremely shock to know the change of holding site from Bishan ITE to Mount Sinai. The change is unreasonable and unacceptable. Did MOE consider the distance and impact to the students when made the decision? Hope you can help to reverse the situation to have the holding site near Bishan area. Thank You!

Dear Prime Minister Lee, I am a Secondary 1 student, studying in CHIJ St Nicholas Girls School. I am in the IP program in St Nicks and due to the recent update of the completion date being pushed back, I feel obliged to sign this petition, so that my juniors who will be joining the IP program in 2016 onwards, will not experience the same event again. First and foremost, I really cannot understand why LTA is pushing back the completion date of this project. The building of the new JC was revealed to the public back in 2010, and LTA had 4 years to resolve the issue (if I’m not wrong, it is due to some new arrangements for the building). Why is the Ministry of Education and Land Transport Authorities only informing us, the students now that the Secondary 2 & 3 students are unable to enter the new building, and the Sec 1s will only have 1 year there? I feel that it is very unreasonable, especially for the Sec 3 seniors, since they are not able to transfer out to the O level stream, or to another IPJC. In this case, the government should allow us to be able to transfer directly into the nearest IPJC. Why are we suffering because of the Ministry’s mis-calculation? I live in in the North, and I know that the new MRT line (Thompson line) will be up (at least for Woodlands) by 2019. I cannot comprehend why the time taken to build a JC is the same for building 3 train stations. Furthermore, the construction of the train station started later than the construction of the new IPJC. We, the IP pupils of CHIJ SNGS, CHS and SCGS, have often received gifts and cards from the new JC. The S2 and S1 in 2014 had the chance to decide on their uniforms, school rules etc. However, the cards and gifts were always signed off with the name ‘Team at New-Government JC’. If the government has not even given us a (future) school identity, I really see no point to announce this decision to the public. Totally agree and we were told that we are not possible to be transferred to another IP school base on MOE regulations on IP programme. We are not strangled on what to do next.

Dear Mr Lee Hsien Loong, I really appreciate if you would take the time to read this. I am a Secondary 1 student from one of the ip schools and I wish to voice out my opinions and utter disappointment on this new JC. I have worked extremely hard for PSLE to earn the eligibility to join my secondary two sister in this school. One of the reasons I made the decision to join my school was because of this new JC that I heard was in the making. I was looking forward to this supposedly prestigious and fast developed JC. However, when I received the letter from my school that first of all, there would be a delay of two years. Also, the location of the holding site was changed from Bishan to Buona Vista. Does the school even bother to chase the tenant of the original holding site? Furthermore, this supposedly "New-Government JC" has not even decided on a name on this new JC. On every notes of encouragements and well wishes, they never fail to sign off as "New-Government JC". If the decision for a new JC took 4 years, why has there been barely any action taken yet? The location of the holding site is very inconveniently far for majority of the students who are going to be enrolled in this new JC. Our sleeping hours will be shortened as we will have to hassle earlier in the morning to set off to the JC. Our focus during curriculum times will also be greatly affected due to this. Why is there such a huge delay in the official opening of this new JC? Shouldn't SJI keep their word and move out when they has originally agreed to? All this while the value of trustworthiness has been drilled into our minds. What is the example being set now, however? As a student going to this new JC, I feel immensely disappointed in the new JC as I picture myself graduating from a JC with no identity, or even without stepping in it. Dear PM, Many of us stay in the vicinity or close enough to school. We do not live in a utopia where there are no train breakdowns, waiting times, and other circumstances which will prolong the travelling time. These factors are crucial and must be weighed in. MOE should strive to deliver on the promise that was made to parents and our children when we first signed up for the IP Programme.

Simply put yourself in my child place whom is staying in far North east shore. Its one child daily travel to and fro in a packed public transport because of some agency lapse. How does it feel standing and walking for two three hour with a heavy bag daily for a child ? Not to mention time lost. We didn't choose this route. Is that fair ? How do we explain to our child when such shortfall mistake was not identify and where any apology is meaningless.

Dear Mr Lee I'm perturbed by the fact that the ministries, LTA and MOE, don't seem to be communicating with each other and are working in silos in their respective areas resulting in this fiasco. There's also a general feeling amongst parents that the MOE is not forthright and transparent in answering parents' queries on this issue. We hope that you can get your ministers and the officials to look into this matter urgently! This cannot and should not be the way the government agencies work to bring Singapore to the next 50 years! Thank you in advance for your help and time!

The children have been looking forward to their new JC. By changing plans & altering what has been committed, are we teaching the kids that it is alright to change our commitments? What kind of people are we likely to get for the next generation?

I personally feel that the software i.e. the quality of the teachers, is more crutial for the students. Nevertheless, the pioneer batch should at least get a chance to use the new campus to establish a sense of belonging to the new JC. I think it all boils down to poor planing!

Dear PM, MOE and LTA. Kindly work together to achieve the right outcome; not a temporary solution which inconvenience so many students and parents.
