Why are school officials concerned that this school be named Jasper HS so it can be connected to Jasper? Anyone in the area knows it's in or near Jasper, no one else is interested. This should've been voted on by the student body before making a decision. After all, it's the students who have gone to the school and who love the school. This school was name after someone many years ago....are they no longer important enough? School officials....listen to the students and to the parents, who probably attended the school, too.

The BOE/Jasper city council should have given the citizens of Jasper the opportunity to vote on the name change. We WERE given a chance to approve a tax increase to build a new WALKER HIGH school. At least that's what the sign says at the construction site entrance.

School and I oppose the name change.
I will always be a Walker Viking and
never a Jasper Viking!

Alumni from 1995. I will always be a Walker Viking. I was also in the Walker Viking Band ( the Freddie Meadow years) all of those trophies we won wouldn't have the same ring if it were called out as the "Jasper High School Marching Band." Anyone in Alabama knows where our High School is. I see no need to change the name. I am a Walker Viking forever!
