A new high school is very much needed for Staunton and should be made a priority. Although remodeling may save money in the short term, it would only be a Band-Aid solution. Education has changed dramatically in the last decades and our students in Staunton deserve a facility that can offer them the same opportunities as other areas. While a new high school is not a fix-it-all for all educational concerns, it is an important step forward and one that will benefit all Staunton city students.

The issue of a new high school should be a concern for all of our community. This is not just a matter for parents, but this is a broader question that affects everyone in Staunton. As a community, we will make little progress if we talk about the need for new opportunities and civic improvement but are unwilling to invest in our future. A new high school is a key piece to ensuring a prosperous future for Staunton.
