Currently, the DP SL math classes are encountering an issue regarding the amount of people in the classes. DP1 math HL has 27 students, with some moving down from HL as well.

With math being one of the hardest IB subjects, it is very hard to achieve successful lessons and cover everyone's personal needs in the amount of time given to us with the amount of people we have - this also causes the teacher unnecessary stress (because having to manage a lesson of nearly 30 students is extremely demanding).

We currently have rooms in which four students find themselves around tables of two, and having to sit with their backs faced to the board. Finding personal space in class (or even seats - without borrowing from other classes) is a luxury. The fact that chairs have to be borrowed from other rooms before lessons start brings up time constraints. Every lesson takes at least 10 extra minutes out of our limited 50 to start - with three lessons a week this is something we simply cannot afford.

It is said that even with all of the time given to us - all 150 hours of teaching - the SL syllabus is really hard to get through by the time of the exams, so these extra minutes being lost at the beginning of class only puts us as a further disadvantage.

With this petition, we ask the direction and SLT to reconsider the way math classes are structured and find new possibilities to further enhance our learning.
