Dear Parents, Teachers and Staff of Thunderbird Preparatory Academy,

We are urgently seeking your assistance to ensure the future of our school and its continued success. We ask for your prompt and immediate attention to the matters described below, especially as we are at a critical point in the school year with our lottery season, as EOG’s are approaching, and as we end our current school year. As you continue to read the following, this petition will implore your support in our efforts to demand the immediate resignation of the Chairman of our board. His position does not expire until June of 2017 and our school cannot survive another year under his leadership. Under his management the school has violated numerous bylaws, and we as parents have not seen any progression on the construction of the permanent site, construction to accommodate the 5th grade or the upcoming 6th grade. The current chairman and some members of the board have been unprofessional during the board meetings and have not been able to work as a cohesive group to move things forward.

Unfortunately, as of March 11, we presently have only three board members. We have been incompliant with our bylaws and state charter requirements since December. We need a minimum of 5 members but are slated for seven members to be in compliance. Over the last year, numerous capable, qualified, and passionate applicants have applied for the open positions but never brought to a vote. As a result of the board’s inability to get past their deadlock they chose to hire an outside HR firm to make selections, which we discovered is another major board bylaw violation. The numerous violations that the board has committed throughout the past year under the chairman’s leadership have manifested into a situation where we fear that enrollment numbers will not be made for the 2016-2017 school year.

We hope your signing this petition will help us make this environment better for all of our children and the success of TPA. With a new chairman and new board members filling the vacant openings, our goal is to create a productive, professional team of advocates that can immediately start to make crucial decisions and get things moving in a positive direction for our whole school. Please sign and support our goal to have the Chairman of the Board resign from the board and bring positive new leadership to TPA.
