Benicia is a place that myself and many others call home. Before the quarantine if you drove past the Southampton park 90% of the time there is someone there playing at the park, throwing a ball to their dog, running the path or playing basketball. It is one of the most popular parks in Benicia If not the most. That basketball court has provided the people of this area a great place to play the game we all love, basketball. My friends and I have spent countless hours there pouring our heart and souls into that court but throughout the years the quality of the court has faded. I grew up in this town but I started going more frequently about five years ago. The paint for the lines is spotty, the backboard isn’t square and the rim was bent. Now is the best time to get to action to solve these problems for the community especially since the old rim is already taken off at the court. Ask anyone living near the park it is an important park for our community that desperately needs an upgrade that benefits all citizens young and old.
