Background

The City of Pitt Meadows has always promoted a healthy lifestyle for its citizens and as a result, Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge residents of all ages have embraced physical activity as part of their daily lives. Unfortunately, the field supply in Pitt Meadows has not kept up with demand for sports fields, particularly lit, all weather fields that can continue to support community use when the cold, wet, winter weather sets in.

As a result the single artificial turf field located at Pitt Meadows Secondary School is overrun with more players and teams having to share the space at a level that is well short of optimal player development recommendations. The time is now to invest in physical activity infrastructure in our community.
