This petition requests that Berkeley homes identify an appropriate
alternative access road or consider changing work schedules such that Arsenal
Way can be reopened
Since Berkeley homes shut Arsenal Way to build the Crossrail
and new flat complexes, the resulting traffic to Major Draper Street has
intensified.
During peak hours the street looks like a busy high street rather than the quiet street it
was before the closure.
The very large numbers of pedestrians (the entire Berkeley
complex as well as all of the estates along the river) means that inconsiderate
behaviour of a low proportion of that large number results in residents along
the Street being woken up multiple times each night.
Although the Estate Manager has agreed to intensify security
presence anything less than a constant presence would not alleviate the
problem. Nor does contacting the concierge solve the issue of being disturbed
many times a night.
Another outcome of the reduced access is that drivers spend
c.20mins in rush hour getting around the Plumstead Roundabout and back to the
lights outside the gates.
20 mins just to get around the roundabout is a joke. Berkeley homes need to sort this mess out now its affecting everyone.
