The field is an absolute necessity for the youth of our community

The fact that a petition is even needed for this is ludicrous. I personally manage a 15-18 y.o. rec baseball team that has had to move to play out of Hampstead ( i.e. Carroll County) for the last 4 years because there is NO PLACE FOR OUR BOYS TO PLAY IN THE HEREFORD ZONE!! The Hereford zone has more available land than any other zone in Baltimore County and yet we consistently have the fewest and most poorly maintained facilities in the county. It's pretty ridiculous that people actually have volunteered to donate their time and the necessary materials to do this in the past and yet the County ( i.e. BCPS and BCRec and Parks) still won't let it happen. It's government bureaucracy at it's finest.

It strikes me as a travesty that this petition is even required to persuade the Rec Council powers to loose their ample purse strings and fulfill such a legitimate need for the kids. You are way too late already. Get to work and make this happen!

Should of been done 10 years ago. Why can't the kids in Hereford have a 90 foot baseball diamond to play on. Northern Baltimore County Tax Payer.

Baltimore county needs to upgrade all the baseball fields in the Hereford area. I've umpired up here for many years and the fields are deplorable. The children need better fields to play on.

Though the Hereford Zone is an area blessed with wide, open green spaces, its children go without the necessary field and athletic facilities. If small corners can be carved out and fitted in other Baltimore county communities for adequate recreation fields, then certainly the Hereford Zone, with its abundant bounty, can manage to do the same.

Shouldn't require a petition for this. Should just be done. Is 90' big enough?

Let's put OUR tax dollars toward a quality endeavor that only yields positive results. Kids playing baseball outside. Listen to us and abide by our wishes. This area has numerous good qualities. The drawback is playing fields. What a nice problem to have. What a positive 'political' move as well.

For years we've had 15 and 16 year old kids involved in both the rec and travel programs playing on small fields. This should definitely be on the top of the priority list for program funds by now.

We'll never build a competitive program until it happens. The best kids will continue to leave because we have no options in Hereford. Build it with lights and we will be the envy of Baltimore County! Long overdue.

This has been needed for many years.

There shouldn't even be a debate on whether this 90 ft diamond becomes reality. We lose HZ boys to other baseball programs, we lose them to lacrosse, and we simply lose them to "nothing" as they join the growing number of inactive kids who park themselves in front of a video game screen instead of staying active on the ball fields. There's no reason why this conceptually approved 90 ft diamond shouldn't happen at Hereford Middle School. I'm glad to see so many people are going to bat for this cause. It's too important not to.
