With the recent chain of events involving innocent Nevaeh Buchanan, the community that we once knew as quiet, friendly and a great place to raise children has heightened awareness as to the number of sexual offenders that reside in our community. Not everybody has the knowledge nor the resource to go online and check the internet for a sexual offender near their child's school, home or a daycare but EVERYBODY has the right to know. It's public information, full disclosure. If the state would mandate putting a tether on ALL sexual offenders, we will always have knowledge of who these people are in our community. We can look on different sites but who would honestly remember that same face if they were approached by an offender while taking their children to the park I wouldn't be able to remember all of the faces that I've seen when I tracked sexual offenders in Monroe. To protect our children, I'm asking that the State of Michigan mandate predators to wear a tether as part of their parole and long after it. Not only would we be able to tell WHO they are but law enforcement officials would also be able to know WHERE there are at all times.
