It's a different world than it was in 2005 when we last saw Brian, Mikey, Ben, Emmet, Ted, Justin, and the rest of the Queer As Folk family. Gay marriage is the law of the land, yet homophobia still exists both publicly with figures like Kim Davis, the County Clerk who refused to issue marriage licenses despite an order from the Supreme Court, and less openly, but perhaps more painfully, with our co-workers, "friends", and families. Suddenly a spreading tide of state legislatures are enacting anti-lgtbq laws, stripping us of the rights we have fought so harrd for. Newer issues such as bisexual invisibility, increasing transgender presence in the media and need for education and understanding, Grindr versus clubs. Etc etc etc. Mikey's baby girl would be hitting puberty now, and Gus would be around the age Justin was when he and Brian hooked up for the first time. I for one want to see how all our favorite characters have grown over the last 10 years, how life has changed them, what ideals they have held onto, and what and who they let go of. God knows I want to see Brian and Justin together in whatever arrangement they have negotiated, but together. Brian is the heart of the show and deserves his happy ending. To all the original actors: Gale Harold, Randy Harrison, Hal Sparks, Peter Paige, Scott Lowell, Robert Gant, Sharon Gless, Michelle Clunie, Thea Gill, and the rest of the QAF family, please come back, this would not be the same without you.
