I walk to work on first ave. And this train stopping in the middle of intersection has made me late several times. It really angers me they would run it during busy hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They block them all over posey county also we have one way to get over the train when it is coming through and stopping to switch at the port quite often the one way over is a bridge that would be illegal weight wise for most emergency vehicles to cross it is falling in in spots and Mount Vernon won't replace it

Interesting to find out there's a 10 min limit on how long the trains can stop. Got caught myself, and since i was going south, turned around and went to Allen's lane where the train was also stopped blocking the road and then i had to go further down to Diamond. If we put an overpass for Mill Rd, then we are moving the problem down to Allen's Lane and so forth. In the mean time can we post a time frame when the train can stop, or is likely to stop so we know to avoid these intersections

the constant banging noise from the west side track is very loud and affecting quality of life. seems to be located in the NE corner of mill creek estates.

ridiculous could mean life or death in result of an emergency vehicle needing to get down there but cant because trains are stopped on tracks for half hour or an hour

We get stuck by the train everyday at least twice and the train is usually just sitting on the track not moving.

Why is it that someone always has to die before an issue is looked at.

Too long lots of time plus they seem to blow the horn excessively like they are trying to aggravate us, I mean seems holding down horn more than needed or required.

The solution to this is not a forcing the reailroad to do anything. Because quite frankly, operating conditions, landlocked track space and federally mandated regulations are preventing CSX from doing anything beyond moving the entire Howell yard operations and negatively affecting movement of goods along this track section which is included in the main north-south corridor for rail transport between Jacksonville and Chicago. The solution to this is to petition to the city to allocate taxpayer funds for the construction of a street overpass over the tracks at the Mill Rd. crossing. Because the rail is privately owned, has prior rights easements, and would be an insanely intensive project to gradually elevate the rail over the length of 2 miles north and south of Mill Rd (also affecting Allen's Ln.), it would not be possible for the construction of a rail overpass over the road. Additionally CSX wouldn't pay for a municipality to build an overpass unless it will benefit the railroad. If the city wants the project done, the city (in fact its taxpayers) will have to fund it. Therefore this needs to be brought to Mayor Lloyd Winnecke.

This is very inconvenient and impacts me directly. I have to go over these daily or go under the wimburg bridge when there is a train stuck there.

I have sat at that railroad & counter over 100 rail cars. Majority of the time they are slow & have even gone through at a snail pace. Very few go through there at top speed. Wasn't there a law passed that a train could not block an intersection more than 15 minutes to keep from preventing emergency vehicles access? An overpass needs to somehow be built, if there trains continue to be as long & slow they are in blocking the road.

I have called 911 about this issue before, and they told me that they don't control what the train company does. Even though several different venues have been notified about this problem, nothing is being done. As a resident of Mill Creek Estates, this issue is increasingly disruptive.
