What New Haven calls "comprehensive planning" is a joke! The City leaders are full of dreams and aspirations but they need to get real. Stop disadvantaging the people who own property and pay taxes. Unless the plan is to knock down every building on Grand Avenue and move all the "social service" agencies out of town, you are talking about putting a bandaid on a severed limb.

Building more oversized, poorly constructed apartments will not renew and revitalize Grand Avenue as long as the Avenue is filled with liquor stores and "social service" agencies. Could someone in City government PLEASE think holistically and realistically? Wooster Square should not be the default location for so many poorly designed projects.

Neighborhood input and consideration of the overall Grand Ave vision put forth by Economic Development are crucial to the success of this main commercial corridor. It is imperative that commercial be integrated with the design, not an afterthought.

I oppose this plan to build a 6 story building in the heart of an historic neighborhood that has buildings that do not exceed 4 stories in height. Let's keep Historic New Haven safe from this kind of development.

In light of the “Grand-er” Avenue Moves Forward proposal mentioned in a recent eblast from Mike Piscatelli, it is more important than ever that a development/zoning plan for this part of Grand Avenue be developed. The text received in the eblast: " As part of the American Rescue Plan program, the City is proposing a full infrastructure upgrade of Grand Avenue from Downtown to the Quinnipiac River. This $7.1 million project aims to increase economic activity, improve traffic safety, and enliven one of our most important neighborhood commercial districts, and is currently under consideration for a DECD Challenge grant. Thank you to the Grand Avenue Special Services District and Fair Haven Management Team for their efforts to support this important project."

The size and type of development on this property will have a direct impact on homeowners on Lyon Street, especially to homeowners with yards directly adjacent to the planned buildings. The city of New Haven should be willing to receive input and take into consideration the interests of these property owners.
