Dear Kitsilano Community,

Please support our growing number of concerned residents and business owners affected by the Bimini Public House "College Night". As you may know, there was a recent double stabbing outside the bar in which two people were injured. Furthermore, this evening consistently creates the following public safety concerns:

-Drunk and Disorderly in a Public Place

-Noise Disturbances in a Residential Area

-Making threatening gestures (to residents driving through alley)

-Urination in Public

-Loitering

What is also of increasing concern is alcohol consumption by young adults which may lead to problems in the future. Some neighbors have reported seeing young people throwing up on the street, laying on the sidewalk, or sitting in front of apartment buildings groaning. Do we have to wait until a student dies because of an overdose? This situation can no longer be ignored. This situation is becoming dangerous and we have a responsibility to speak up.

Having a liquor primary license allows Bimini to promote events that go past 1am on a weeknight. The BC Government is actively working to promote socially responsible drinking "to keep health and safety at the forefront of our work.”

We want to ensure the health and safety of all the residents and visitors of the Kitsilano Community.

This is a neighborhood of working people, families, and students. This evening consistently impinges on our right to quiet on a weeknight in a residential neighborhood, our right to move through our neighborhood undisturbed by foul language and aggressive behavior.

The young people, the students with families of their own, need to have adults who set healthy boundaries for their own protection.

All it takes a signature from you. Our goal is to gather enough signatures to encourage Bimini's to stop advertising Wednesday night as a "College Night" in our neighborhood.
