It is absolutely abhorrent that something like this is allowed to happen. The problem is only becoming WORSE with supplying these addicts with the paraphernalia the need to keep up with their addictions. You are ENABLING them!
And in doing so you are endangering the lives of everybody else! ESPECIALLY children that don't know any better.
You can tell a child until you are blue in the face, not to pick up needles or to be careful at the parks or at school. But with these needles hiding in the grass, leaves, rocks and anything else that could be concealing them, the kids won't know it until it's too late.
They are curious, and carefree. Once they start running around having fun with friends, all bets are off because their minds are no longer thinking about the danger.

The fact that there is a "safe place" for drug addicts to go a shoot up is a disgrase. I can't believe this ever became a thing. It's illegal to do the drugs so why would we have a legal place for them to be done at? I understand stopping the spread of disease, but if you're making the choice to put a needle full of drugs into your arm, you deserve to contract HIV or AIDS. We are putting children and the general public at risk instead of keeping these diseases in the drug community. Absolutely disgusting that anyone ever thought this was going to solve any problems. Free needles aren't even given to children who need them to survive, so why the hell would we give them to drug addicts???? The people who agree with this should be ashamed of themselves.

This is just getting beyond stupid. We give out free needles for people with drug addictions but people with diabetes have to supply their own needles at a very high cost. WHAT ARE WE DOING!!!

A few weeks ago our family was playing at a northside park my son was running we seen something in his hand. He was running with needles he found. He is 4 years old.

I am disappointed and disgusted as a parent that this is even an issue we have to deal with in our beautiful city. This needs to be addressed and dealt with immediately.

Whoever is letting these needles off site should be responsible for all cleanups and police wages that have to go and pick them. My grandkids school was on lockdown the other day because of a needle. Ridiculous!

I am supportive of safe and clean injection sites, and of giving those who use drugs sanitary needles in order to reduce disease. But I am not okay with needles being taken off property and then ending up in public parks, schools, and places. This is a crisis that needs to be taken care of. Children, and families should not have to worry about being pricked by needles on a daily basis. Something needs to change.

Much time energy and money is being wasted saving those determined to kill themselves. It is pointless to repeately administer life sparing medications to the suicidal. Taking the risk away from dangerous behavior is promoting it, if there are no consequences there is nothing to fear. How about every diabetic in town heading to these free needle stations and getting a hand up with their MEDICAL CONDITION!!

If this crisis isn’t dealt with and rectified quickly, the city of Lethbridge is basically saying that they don’t care about our safety as a whole. This should be about the safety of all citizens not just one particular group. Children are vulnerable too. What’s being done to protect them here?!?!
