We were all distraught after hearing the District explain (BOE meeting Dec. 22, 2011) how excited they are that the "waiver" will no longer force them to adhere to State Sanctions for failing to make AYP with certain subgroups (Special Education consistently one of them - 4yrs in a row) and that they will continue to receive all funding but no longer have to use it towards additional trainings, no more necessity to hire "well qualified" teachers, 6 years to achieve goals and the ability to "double up" in years where they fail to reach annual goals, etc. (Yes, this was part of the presentation)...    This definitively was not the explanation Christi's administration has been sharing with the public, nor our expectation for oversight of our children's educations - should NJ no longer have obligations under NCLB.
