Hello.

The Northern Beaches has the worst public transit times per kilometre. Our goal? To fix the horrendous bus system.

Citizens from Avalon, only 30 kilometres from the CBD often travel for 2 hours each way to the CBD. Citizens from Heathcode south of Sydney, also 30km away, travel for only 51 minutes by train. Same distance, less than half the time. Citizens from Gosford or even north have the same travel times, despite being much, much farther from the CBD.

If you catch the bus to and from the CBD every day from Mona Vale or north of Mona Vale, you are wasting an extra 1hr-1.5hrs each way, solely because of horrendous transport links to the northern beaches.

If this petition reaches the amount of signatures required, this petition will be presented for debate in the NSW Legislative Assembly. However, if you wish not to sign, realise that if you keep with Buses and do live in the northern beaches, every week you are going to be wasting an extra two to five hours of your life.

People have said that the Western Suburbs is more important, and we are "rich enough to drive". This is ridiculous, insulting and an outright lie. There are a growing number of young people and students that can't afford to drive. We have a catchment area of over 200,000 people and NOTHING is being done. We need to be a top priority.

What we want to do is petition for a rail line to be constructed branching off North Sydney, continuing to at least Mona Vale. Patronage studies show that it is financially viable to go such a distance, and further north can be approached with light rail if need be, or buses to the stations. Furthermore, a rail link will be proposed to undergo feasibility studies from Dee Why to Chatswood, a major corridor on the strained Warringah Road. Not only will it halve travel times, it was significantly reduce the strain on current infrastructure, and reduce pollution (CO2 emissions).

Do the right thing for your fellow citizens.

The daily grind of these commute times is taking its toll on all of us. I have been spending my nights talking to people who are just as drained as I am, and it is clear that we have been ignored for far too long. We are not giving up on this despite the silence from the people in charge.

Reaching this point has been exhausting but seeing this many people demand a better way to commute keeps me going. It is clear that we are tired of losing hours of our lives to a broken bus system while the government ignores our needs.

It is about time. The traffic in Mona Vale is absolute nightmare. Not everyone can afford a car or parking in the CBD.

Finally someone said it. Getting from Avalon to the city is a joke. I waste 3 hours a day sitting in traffic on the B-Line. Give us a train line already!
