This petition is mainly for the teachers, and staff of the Phillipsburg High School. Recently on September 12,2011 a student, Mark Jackson, was suspended because a staff member though his remarks toward her was "offensive". During detention he was told to complete his quiz work for another class, than he can go. As he finished and was about to leave the in-school teacher demanded that he complete a little more work, which he did. After he was completely finished and once again about to leave, he was told once again he cant leave, even though he was instructed too. One thing lead to another, apparently Mark "threatened" the teacher with psychical and brutal violence. Ultimately security was called,and Mark was thrown against a locker for no reason. As said by Mr. Mark Jackson " these teachers in the school are ABUSING their power, lying just to make themselves look good!" Finally myself,Sherwood Sanders, had an incident on 9/13/11. I was late to class, which i was coming from trailer 26 to classroom 247, it took me about five minutes. As soon as the bell rang,i entered the class which my teachers yells "LATE!". There were about three other students late too. My teacher starts yelling at me saying i have detention, this is my "third late". I tell him "Im not going to detention cause i already have detention", he says "Im gonna write you up", than i go to take my seat." "You like really stupid, like a doofus, with your pants like that" he yells at me. Eventually he kicks me out, without a real purpose. Everyone has a little temper limit, and i know mines, so i say nothing to a school staff to refrain from saying/doing something that can lead to dire consequence. I end up walking out of the school and a resort to keep my composure. In conclusion in a way, school officials are abusing there power based on their judgement of certain students. This is an issue that has been going on long enough, and needs to be strictly business in the school from 7:30 til 2:14. So for a re-election of certain officials please sign this petition, we need the right people for the right job.
