Petition for a National Accessibility Act

In principle, all people with disabilities have equal rights according to the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.  These rights are further delineated in the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which Canada signed in March 2010.  Yet, in practical terms, there are many barriers which prevent people with disabilities from full and equal participation in Canadian life. We, the undersigned, are asking the Canadian Government to enact a National Accessibility Act which will ensure and enable full accessibility and equal participation to all people with disabilities in all Canadian provinces and territories.

I have been reading through the deeply personal stories you are leaving in the comments and they are the only reason I keep going. Your experiences remind me why this work is so necessary even when progress feels slow. I am working behind the scenes to get these concerns in front of the right people.
