An absolute must for Ireland. What an opportunity to develop winter sports and to have a pathway to recognition for Ireland on the European and World stage for winter sport.

So many activities are missing because of lack this kind objects. You have so many people, different countries where the ice skating was treated as sports lesson in school. Hockey team, speed skating, dance on ice. Great opportunities for future generations and beautiful winter sports.

Why don't we have facilities for Curling here ? I'm sure there is plenty of people that would like to try and play the sport .

A country like Ireland should have the necessary facilities to give people the opportunity to at least try some of these sports

Watching the winter Olympics and wondering why Ireland didn't seem to be in events that don't need a lot of snow outside !! and shocked to find we don't have a national ice arena. Something must be done no. Contact Jack Chambers T.D, Minister for Sport

The addition of a national ice rink in Ireland is essential. Imagine a Friday night in Dublin, welcoming teams from Glasgow, Belfast, Nottingham etc in Ice Hockey. It brings tourists to the country. Scotland has 22 permanent quality ice rinks. If built properly, there are a number of Olympic sports that can be played. Men's and womens curling as an example. It's a no brainer.

I'm from Belfast, the only city on the island of Ireland with a proper ice hockey team. I simply can't understand why there is not a single rink in the Republic, especially Dublin. Winter sports sports all togehter needs a revival here.

Ireland needs a drastic change in the facilities open for sports. European countries have thousands of rinks, while Ireland has 0!

I have been skating every Christmas for 20 years, but have never been able to fully train due to the lack of facilities in Ireland. A year round skating rink could get this country on map for another Olympic sport!

Disgrace, there isn’t a rink in this country.

It's a disgrace we don't have a permanent ice rink. Rollerblading in Ireland is limited by weather and awful roads/paths throughout the country. Anyone who has been to Xmas rinks tend to love them but have no other outlet for thier passion & skill for 45weeks of the year. Ice skating /hockey etc are incredible sports that combine fitness with fun and given our history of contact sports, Ice rinks would go hand in hand with hurling culture and support indoor activities that are needed due to relentless rain throughout the country. We deserve the support of government and local communities to encourage enjoyable activities for the youth of Ireland.
