You guys. I can't even.

In a few short hours, all of humanity will be delighted by the majesty of the Cosmo's, for the 2016 Perseid Meteor Shower is upon us. We will, for a few brief moments, be present in the wonder of something beyond our control, reminded in the most merciful way how incredibly.small.we.are. It's a glorious thing folks.

Separately, will will come together, across the globe, to stop.moving. and lie flat on our backs, hopefully with someone we care about, and take in a sight that sends shivers up the necks of young and old alike. Well, those of us that manage to stay awake HALF the night. <---Will anyone ACTUALLY see this besides astronomy buffs and the few folks that closed down the bar on Thirsty Thursday?!

This brings me to my dilemma. I'm tired. I've adulted all day long! I've corralled children and dogs, I've dusted and vacuumed, swept my FURNITURE (cuz kids and dogs y'all) and I've made lasagna...from scratch. Are you feeling me? Yes, all completely normal and mundane, but exhausting nonetheless okay? I then vigorously ingested said lasagna plus garlic bread. It's a lot. I've still got crap to do and kids to wrangle down...

But it got me thinking; WHO could need some cosmic majesty more than ME (and other adulters like me)??? Im overdo for some wonder that makes me feel 5 years old again people! How in all.the.hopes. would I EVER manage to stay up till 2 am, sneak out of the house alone to find a DARK place (<--scary!), lay flat on my back 45 minutes prior to let my eyes adjust, and behold this sight with alertness??? AND even if I managed, how in the actual universe would I be awake to adult TOMORROW?!! (shoulders sagging)

My mama and I would watch meteors together in years passed...years before I was truly adulting to be honest. I reaallly (whiney voice) WANT to participate in this spectacle, but it's 7 pm and I already can't even. I give up on this year.

PLEASE join me in petitioning NASA to host this event NEXT year during DAYLIGHT hours! It's a win win on so many obvious levels that I won't bother listing them. Why NASA? I don't know who else to gripe to? If you would like me to add someone else to petition...to this petition...just petition me. I'll be happy to amend y'all. Maybe they can slightly skew the axis of the earth, making it visible during REASONABLE hours? I don't know, I'm not a scientist okay?

All I'm saying is its worth a shot. Stand with me. Because sleep.
