When my child is of school age, I will not let my child be bused between schools. Need to find a long-term solution ASAP.

As a Realtor, one of the main reasons a buyer picks a town is the school system. Having our schools in upheaval for years to come will be a detriment to everyone. And it will be for years to come because this is a bandaid solution to a much larger issue. You want a new bypass to the highway for continued growth? You want to support all the new construction happening in our town? Spend the money to fix this issue in a way that will allow for this growth. You're also looking at options for building a new high school because we've outgrown that as well. It's painfully obvious our small community is small no more. We welcomed new growth, now it's time to pay for it and secure our towns future as a wonderful community with a great, well cared for, well thought out school system. Or else you're going to end up with a lot of homes for sale and businesses closing in the coming years.

Children should not be traded like baseball cards! We put them on a school bus with the expectation that those who will be with them, care about them and will protect them. After discussing this with teachers and staff members, I am hearing that they are feeling their hands are tied as much as we parents are feeling. You, the School Board, who were elected by us, need to speak and vote for us. I implore you to make decisions based on what you know is right. What you would want for your own young children. I challenge you to stand up for your constituents and the children of this town and PUT EDUCATION FIRST! Our schools have been progressively doing better on testing. We are raising in the ranks of good schools in Maine. THAT is why we have a population boom. An well educated town, is a town that does better. A vote to accept a merger ties the hands of school employees, stunts academic progress and kills moral. We teach our children that money isn't everything and that education is the key to success. Voting to merge is telling our children we lied.

As a citizen of Gorham and mother of three children in the school system, I would like to urge the school board and our town council to make education a priority. If you're not willing to spend more money solely for the benefit of the children of Gorham, then please consider that it is EXCELLENT school systems that attract new residents and in turn businesses.

Our students and teachers should have smaller classes. Please support the funding needed for 4 new teachers.

Transfers sound like a short term solution Our school board and town managers can - and should- do better !!

One of the deciding factors in buying the house that we did 8 months ago was the close proximity to Narragansett. We can walk there from our backyard in about 8 minutes. Ever since we moved to Gorham, my son and I have biked to school most days. It is one of the highlights of our day. When my daughter starts at Narragansett next year, it will be the three of us with this routine. With the busy downtown area, there is no way we could do this at Village. I will fight any attempt to move my kids.

I am open to re-zoning. But, the proposal as it is written, increases class sizes and does not allow enough room for growth (thereby increasing the likelihood of further disruptive actions in the near future). I don't see it as a viable solution. More creative thinking is necessary.

I encourage the school committee to find an alternative to the shared attendance zone approach. The $210K savings equates to a mill rate impact of 13 cents for every $1K of property value. That's $39/yr for a $300K home. That's the price of 2 large and 1 small cheese pizzas at GHOP. It's hard to equate that to the impact of up to 20 established kids who would have to change schools as well as the classmates and friends they would leave behind.

Transfer a teacher. As a young child I was transferred to another city school in my town due to over crowding. It has a lasting effect on kids.

This is 100% NOT in th best interest of these kids. They need to add the appropriate amount of teachers to Village and Narragansett schools to keep class sizes within guidelines and not try to scrimp by With cost cutting measures at the expense of our children.
