As a native of Amesbury I fully support local students in their drive to name the S bound side of our new bridge after local hero William Lloyd Garrison. Please support them in their attempt to emphasize Garrison and Greenleaf's shared abolitionist ideals.

My family is related to John Greenleaf Whittier, and we wholly support naming the Southbound Bridge after William Lloyd Garrison, son of Newburyport.

I can't imagine that WLG would have been a huge fan of our cultural addiction to fossil fuels (I see him as more of a "Nissan Leaf" kind of guy), but I love this idea nonetheless.

The abolitionists ideas had to bridge the mighty rivers in their day. We still have many rivers to cross.

This is a beautiful student-driven project that sets a precedent too important to overlook.
