Coach Ray Cieplik is exactly the Coach to be honored and have the Soccer Field to be named after him.
He has the values and integrity that represent the very best of all of us and of the Coast Guard Academy.
This is the right thing to do.

I was on the soccer team when Dr Cieplik first arrived at the Academy and assumed the head soccer coach position. I later had the privilege to serve as assistant coach under him, 76-79, while stationed at the Academy. As both a player and as his assistant I fully came to realize and appreciate the level of his dedication and devotion to the Academy and his support for the cadets. There is no one more deserving of this award and fully endorse this tribute.

I was a soccer team manager for the i968 to 1971 seasons, serving as co-head manager for 1971. Coach Cieplik was a dynamic, hard working, enthusiastic, and effective coach. He provided outstanding guidance and direction for the entire team and took time to include we managers as well.
He created an inclusive and warm family program, that embraced all of us. His style was focused but never severe or demeaning. He was a welcoming individual who held our respect and allegiance nor only then but through the 50 plus years since then.
I can think of few people who deserve this tribute for this facility as much as he does. Coach was CGA soccer for decades and contributed greatly to the success of many other programs at the Academy. I wholeheartedly support this naming effort

A super idea to name the soccer field after the best coach ever. It's hard to believe that he has been there as long as he has and always added value to the soccer program and all other sports as the Athletic Director. Super accolade for a great coach and human being at CGA !!
