As one of the 21 All-Americans coached by Wayne Fatchett, I find it more than fitting that the BHS pool be named in his honor. He taught me the values of hard work and determination. I .was coached by Wayne for over 15 years. He proudly taught young men and women the fine art of swimming. It made no difference whether you swam in lane 1 or lane 6, he treated everyone the same. I saw him stand on the deck in wind, rain, sleet and snow coaching us to those state championships. I learned many things from Wayne, mostly about how to treat others and become a young man with values. You see, its not just about the learning experiences in the pool, its what you learn about yourself and who you want to be. I ran into Wayne last year and thanked him for his many years of dedication, both on, and off the pool deck. It is my privilege to sign this petition in honor his 21 year coaching career. I vote, to name the Bettendorf High School pool in his name. I know that I've said it many times, but, "Thanks Coach". Steven J. Castro BHS Class of 1982

I do not know Wayne personally but I've heard "his guy's" talk about him. What a super influencer he was for these men in their lives. I hope you will consider naming the pool after him. What a wonderful honor it would be for a man that gave so much to his swimmers.

The most influential best coach so ever had. Made me the person I am today and instilled a love for the sport in so many ways more than just being a successful swimmer. My profession is coaching and I am a national level swimming official and referee.
