This petition is for those who are in favor of naming the new fine arts center the Jason L Bartelsmeyer Center for Performing Arts.

Mr Batelsmeyer was not only a choir teacher at Rolla high school for many years, he was a man who always put himself above all others.

When students were in his class, he would make sure they all were included. He would be sure to talk to and take kids aside that might need extra help and attention, and spend time helping them with their musical pieces. Not only did he help with their music, he would get to know them, and help them with anything else they needed.

For so many students, he found ways to pay for choir trips to the Renaissance Festival, the Silver Dollar City trip and many others. While there was fundraising money, even after that was gone, he always provided a way for students to be able to participate and not feel bad that their family was less affluent than others.

Mr. B, as the students affectionately called him, even when he became sick with Cancer, he never complained, he always had a smile and he still continued to come and teach as often as the sickness would allow. He attended students' graduation parties, and in general continued to invest in students and their talents.

Not only did Mr B help and care for choir students, he poured into marching band and Drama students as well, often going with them to competitions and helping with anything needed at that time.

He was a member of the First Methodist Church and was a member of their choir. He attended weekly also ministering with his music to those in attendance.

This proposal is to name the newly built performing arts center after Jason L Bartelsmeyer so not only the recent classes will know of his kindness, but generations to come.
