The Gentlemen’s Singles Championship Trophy was first presented in 1887 and, unlike most major sports’ trophies including the Ladies’ Venus Rosewater Dish, it has no name for the public to easily refer to it.
The silver gilt cup, features the unusual spectacle of a pineapple – a core ingredient in the Pina Colada, one of the nation’s favourite cocktails – on the top.
This year, for the first time in Wimbledon’s history, the Men’s final will be played on the 10th July – the internationally recognised Pina Colada Day.
Therefore, with the backing of Koko Kanu, an authentic Jamaican rum with coconut flavour, we are asking the All England Lawn Tennis Club to name the Wimbledon Championship Men’s Singles trophy the Pina Colada Cup.
