Steve was a truly inspirational man, and an actual man of steel. He has inspired me and so many others. It'd be wrong to name the man of steel trophy after anyone but him. RIP Steve, you will be missed x x x

Was with Steve on the first challenge he did after being diagnosed. Will be in St. Helens to say goodbye to the great man. Sadly missed but this is a great way to remember what the man of steel award should stand for, the sheer determination not to give in in the face of adversity and to push yourself to limits that others deem impossible. Steve did this in the years after being given only months to live, his legacy deserves to live on and his life inspire others for generations to come. RIP Steve, you will never be forgotten.

What Steve went through and battled through and lasted so much longer than doctors had predicated shoes he was a man of steel easy decision and would be hugly respected by every player and fan alike

A fighter, a gentleman, an inspiration.....in short a legend! Hero is a word banded about too freely these days but in Steve's case this is justified! Rest in Peace Steve!
