Thank you for signing Australian-Kurdish Interpreters Petition. Here's the petition for you and the rest of community. Immigration and Citizenship Minister of Australia Please act on our request: Majority of Australian Kurdish Interpreters around the country are seeking Immigration Minister intervention to remove the bar off the Kurdish Community since NAATI failed to establish Testing Board for Kurdish Language and other rare languages. Kurdish Interpreters locked in a loop with NAATI accreditation policies. The only person can open this loop is Immigration Minister or Prime Minister. With the current growth rate of new Kurdish members to Australian community as refugee, the need for accredited Kurdish Interpreters is inevitable for services such as the Law Courts, the Hospitals, and the other government organisations such as transport and Driver's Knowledge Test Interpreting. This issue has been resolved easily many years ago in United Kingdom by introducing a policy. This policy would accredit the recognised interpreters who worked over 400 hours as paid-work and accredit them as Professional level 2. Currently Australian Kurdish Community is suffering from shortage of NAATI Accredited Kurdish Interpreters. With increasing the number of asylum seekers who are speaking in three Kurdish dialects, Kurdish Faili, Kurdish Kermanji, and Kurdish Sorani and consequently releasing many asylums in the community the need for Kurdish accredited Interpreters is quite obvious. Kurdish Interpreters around the Australia who worked at least more than 3000 hours each (as paid-work) in detention centers around the country are entitled to be eligible for new policy and be accredited. We, Kurdish interpreters, through out Australia request for minister's intervention to resolve our major problem of inability to receive NAATI accredition through the right channel. Kurdish Interpreters are disadvantaged unfairly due to NAATI policy by removing Kurdish language testing board for NAATI accreditation. We are requesting you to sign this petition to approve Kurdish Community needs Accredited NAATI Interpreter.
