A group of protestors are working tirelessly in opposition to the septic tank charge that the Irish Government intend to bring in. They say they will not accept what they claim is an attack on rural Ireland. The septic tank charge is being imposed on almost half a million households which are not part of a public sewerage scheme. The Irish Government announced that householders may register their septic tanks from March until the end of June for a reduced fee of 5 euro, rather than the full fee of 50 euro. We feel that once they have you registered and in their system then there is no going back. It is feared that inspections carried out after tanks are registered will require householders to upgrade or replace their tanks, which could cost thousands of euro.

We will continue to oppose this charge, no matter how small it is. If you would like to support this injustice, please sign our petition today.

The environment agency should be resopnsible for any necessary work on ensuring septic tanks are working properly and keeping the environment clear of human efluent, fines for allowing pollution should be the method of expences recovery not a punitive charge on everyone making a posititve move to keep the environment in balance.

its not about the 5 euro fee its about the inspections that come after. fix the public pipes first before coming for our private ones.

This is just a way to force people to spend thousands on upgrades they dont need. My tank is fine and has been for 30 years.
