Final supporters
We got our meeting with the Mayor & the DPP Director in 2 weeks. The newly appointed director has always been an ally in our fight to improve the permit process and this petition was to bring attention to the need to give the DPP the resources to create a better long-term solution and also bring forth temporary fixes for immediate change.
We want to make sure this meeting is productive and not appearing as an attack on those at the DPP who are actively working hard to make this change but also hold our public officials accountable to the publics needs.
We know it is important to air all our grievances but we need to take the approach and actively work with those who want to make an immediate change. We will keep everyone posted on this thread.

The momentum behind this building permit nightmare is finally hitting a pitch that the city can no longer ignore. It feels wild that we even reached this level of attention because I remember staring at a blank screen just hoping someone would notice the mess we are all in. Now that we have the mayor listening we need to keep this energy focused so we actually get actual results instead of just more empty promises.

DPP back log is harming the building industry. My company get 5 projects had been waiting over 10 months for building permits. DPP should privatize the permitting process to outside agencies, such as third party review.
The length of time to get permits is affecting all of us, General Contractors and Sub Contractors alike. As a small business owner in the industry we ask that something be done before many small businesses are forced to shut their doors.
I rented a place for business. I was able to get 3 months free rent due to the work needed. But the permit took 16 month! The rent was $11,000 a month. DPP needs new blood. It is a Big Big problem! Bing
Building department needs to keep up with our growing population, that means hiring more staff. Under staffing shouldn't be an excused for long permit processing. It'll only get worse if things don't change. It wasn't long ago when getting a permit for a new home only takes 4 months. Please fix these issues.
This has been a nightmare. I am 76 years old and on immunotherapy for cancer. My husband is 80 with Parkinson’s Disease. We would love to have the house built in time to build memories and to know my daughter has a place to come home after she retires.
Too many delays 16 months for remodel is too long
Yes the building permits are taking to to your long. Things has definitely gotten worse!

DPP cancelling active permits - without notifying applicants - is not the way to fix their backlog. To add insult to injury, when a cancelled permit is resubmitted, it sits in prescreen for 4 months. Please, do better.
