Permission for Military Working Dogs Burial in Arlington National Cemetery.
Granting of full Burial Rights at Arlington National Cemetery or any Veteran Cemetery in the United States of America - Based on these guidelines, effective immediately. All Military Working Dogs; [MWD] with appropriate documents (equal to DD214 for soldiers) may be buried at Arlington Cemetery upon request of any government unit, the MWD assigned handler at the time of death or next of kin of the soldier who was the MWD Handler at time of death of MWD. All Military Working Dogs; [MWD] without regard to any special citations, awards or metals may be buried at Arlington Cemetery based solely on the fact they were certified as a Military Working Dog (MWD) by any DoD Department or Government Agency of the U.S.A.. All Military Working Dogs; [MWD] without regard of any length of service requirement may be buried at Arlington Cemetery based solely on the fact they were certified as a Military Working Dog (MWD)at any point in time of the animals life span. . All Military Working Dogs; [MWD] may be buried together with their Handler at Arlington Cemetery. So, long as the Handler was a honorable discharged military veteran as well. . All Veteran Working Dogs; [VWD] who dies while serving a Honorable Discharged Military Veteran of the U.S. Armed Services may be buried at Arlington Cemetery. Proof of veteran status with DD214 documents and verification of the canines being a Service Dog either by its government certification papers or other proof canine was working as a Service Dog for the military veteran. The veteran must have be classified as a service connected disability veteran of any percentage level.
