A decision like this should never be made in a vacuum. This is a decision the membership has to be advised about. Sure, maybe down the line it might generate some income, but soon the technology will be superseded and we'll lose money on it. I agree with Peter Joers.

I'm very disappointed that the Board of Trustees would actually spend time in a Board meeting discussing something like this. Find ways to cut cost and build reserves. This shouldn't be to hard with 350 plus Members. Tip of the day. Take care of the small things and the big things will take care of themselves. Because of ideas like this. Myself and several others left Fairwood. We are better than this.

If there are a handful of people who want to put in a $150,000 simulator , with zero substantiated economics, the club should immediately licence to their LLC the right to set-up their equipment on the club's property . They can charge whatever they want , operate whenever they wish but will have to hold our club harmless in
any and all events . The members of our club can never be liable for any costs associated with this project nor any liabilities associated with it .
The club may also require a bond from this new LLC .
Should you wish to have legal documents prepared for this new LLC , i think i can have them prepared ,

The club may have just reached a breakeven point. Build the reserve and sustain profitability for awhile before taking on a new risk project.

I can't believe this is even being considered at this time. It seems foolhardy to me.

I do not feel the simulator will drive additional membership or revenue for the club. I urge the board to rescind the decision and use the funds for existing needs

Another expense that adds risk to the current assessment rate which is declining slowly in spite of full membership. Cut expenses, not add to expenses. Once management can show they can balance the budget, we can talk about new ideas - poor timing.
Spend any "surplus" money on the course.
