I as an FCC licensee (I'm in the US), I agree. This company is too strict. The UK is a signatory to the Berne Convention and PPL PRS is violating it. The RIAA was like PPL PRS but they cleaned up their act. PPL PRS... Just to let you know, us Americans know that you are full of s*** and you have basically either shape up or ship out.

This is just not acceptable for people who want to start radio broadcasting and dont have the money for licensing and are doing it for a hobby that PPL & PRS need to know that they arent earning money off it!

This is true, we should not have to pay expensive fees just to be able to create a legal radio station.

The fact that this does cost a large propotion is a major contributing factor to the fact many stations close before year 1 end. Even as a international internet radio station (one of the biggest in the UK on any frequency in terms of listener ratings) we struggle as we will not promote advertising on air.
The Netherlands, Germany, France, Austria and Spain all have cheaper radio licenses for internet and for community orientated non commercial - why should the UK be different?
