Parents rights to make medical choices for their kids is paramount. Masks should not be mandated.

Medical interventions should always be optional.

Our children’s rights include no mask mandates. I will choose what is best for my kids not the government and not the school board.

I firmly believe masks should be optional. Our children have been through enough. Leave our children alone! They have gone all summer playing with friends, playing contact sports, taking family vacations, etc. without having any issues.

This should be a personal decision between parent and child not between school board and student

My kids are autistic and have trouble with the mask. Some of them also have hearing loss and read lips to be able to fully process what someone is saying.I also believe that breathing fresh clean is healthy for their brain to learn at school. If someone wants to wear a mask, go for it. You can feel like you’re protected, but don’t take away my kids ability to learn because they don’t understand what the reacher is saying or they are having trouble concentrating because of their sensory issues with the mask.

Masks are child abuse!

We should always err on the side of personal freedom rather than laws and mandates.

As a Marana USD parent with 2 children attending a local elementary school, I want to express my desire to keep masks optional this year. I witnessed first hand what mask requirements did to my kids last year. I could tell you multiple stories, but I’ll sum it up with this image: a 5 year old girl covering her mouth with her hands in a public, outdoor setting in the heat of late spring because her parents had just taken her mask away. Only her immediate family was within 15ft of her, yet she felt an overwhelming external pressure to “mask up”. We had previously felt concern about masking our little ones, but in that moment, it became clear we were creating little anxiety-ridden humans who feel guilt and shame if they show their faces. Since that time, we have had many family lessons about the freedom of choice and we teach our kids that we believe the vaccine is a miracle from God. We believe in the effectiveness of the vaccine (93% is AMAZING!) and we’ve taught our kids that some people still prefer to wear a mask, and that’s their choice. No judgment for them, but also no pressure on us. We taught that because the vaccine is available, we don’t need to worry about protecting others any longer by wearing a mask. In addition, we’ve taught that general good hygiene, diet and exercise is still the best way to stay healthy. I believe we never should have put kids in masks to begin with based on low child-driven transmission rates, but this isn’t about the past. This is about now and the future. We need to never again require the youngest and most impressionable members of society to accommodate those who have chosen not to receive the vaccine for whatever their reason. It is readily available, and if someone hasn’t received it yet, it’s by choice. And it’s not my kids’ job to wear a mask to accommodate them. I could go on with statistics, government orders, or research supporting my stance, but I won’t. I hope our school board makes an informed decisio
