We the undersigned formally request that all future Light Rail Transit (LRT) developments within the City of Edmonton be built concurrently with a coinciding Multi-Use trail system and accompanying green belt. Effectively partitioning motorised and non-motorised traffic along these major transit arteries.

Edmonton is growing, and with growth comes new developments and opportunities to have a say about the way the end product to turns out. Both North and West LRT expansion routes have been decided, and the design phase is about to begin. Have your say by supporting this informal petition to install Multi-use trails in tandem with a green belt running an equivalent of these routes. These trails would recognise and promote usage of the often overlooked third way of transport, which involves niether car, nor public transit. Commuting to school or work via non-motorised means such as cycling, jogging, walking or rollerblading etc. is an excellent option avoiding many cost and traffic headaches while promoting health. Partitioning motorised from non-motorised communter routes would vastly improve the safety and enjoyment for those already commuting this way, while lessening the two factors that are often sited as primary reasons disuading many from practicing them.
