The ISAF council shocked the sailing world on 9 November 2007 by removing the multihull from the Olympics for 2012.
This petition is aimed at the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in order to allow the multihull to compete in the Olympics as the recent decision is far from representative of the international sailing community.

Update 7 March 2008
Following ISAF\'s recent minutes, UKCRA have issued a report which can be found at http://www.asnr29.dsl.pipex.com/ISAF_Events_Report.pdf
Five thousand signatures just appeared on the screen and I honestly had to rub my eyes because that is a massive number for something that started as just me being frustrated at my laptop late at night. I really thought this would fade away after a few weeks but everyone keeps showing up and it makes me think that maybe we actually have a shot at changing their minds even if the ISAF council is being so stubborn about the whole thing.

I just blinked and saw the counter hit one thousand signatures which actually feels kind of surreal because I honestly thought this would just be me shouting into the void about the multihull disaster. It is strange to think so many people care about this as much as I do since the ISAF news really felt like such a gut punch at the time. Anyway I am going to keep digging through these reports and maybe grab a coffee because my head is spinning a bit.

Sailing needs to be fast and technical to attract new fans. Huge mistake by ISAF.

This decision makes no sense. The most exciting sailing is being completely cut out.

Multihulls are the future of the sport. Watching slow monohulls is boring compared to the speed these boats bring.

Just ridiculous. My kids love watching the multihulls race. Please rethink this.
