As a Muhlenberg County High School student, I have been observant as to what's going on in my community. Many students think the budget cuts, additional taxes, etc. have nothing to do with them. Or maybe they just don't care what's going to happen to their education. But I, on the other hand want to have a good education, and with all of the problems going on in our school district it seems as if it will very hard to get that. With the non-tenure teachers being fired and some teachers retiring as of next school year, that will require quite a few classes to be cut out. Which means the students that wanted to take those extra classes, college courses, etc. won't be able to, because they won't be offered anymore.. I am going to make a proposal, and if you agree please repost this or a similar status like this so we can get it noticed. I suggest that we should no longer have "East" and "West" campus. I think we should put 10-12 at the "old" west campus. And call it Muhlenberg County High. At the old "east" campus, we should have 8-9. And we would call that Muhlenberg County Junior High, or something along the lines of that. Then at the middle schools it would just be 6-7. South Middle isn't very clean. There's black mold, and leaks. We could close off a majority of those rooms, or paint and clean them thoroughly. And at North Middle it is very overcrowded. As they just received over 100 more students this past school year. This would reduce some of the crowding. The elementary schools would remain the same. We only need 1 principle, 2 assistants, and 1 athletic director. We don't need 3 principles a school, because frankly, we don't have the money to pay them. This affects young children as well, because this will be the school they come into, eventually. If you like this idea or support it, please help out and spread the word.
