For those of you who have had the pleasure (AKA pain) of working with the psychology lab computers, or for those of you who care about MSVU's psychology students and staff, please read the rest of this message. In the psychology laboratory there are several computers that research methods students and honour students have access to. As well, some professors use them to run experiments. However, these computers are far from adequate for any of these purposes. Their hardware and software are severally out of date, they are painfully slow, and some of them don't even have the proper equipment to run (like a mouse and keyboard!). What I am getting at here is that I want to have appropriate equipment for our students and staff because what we have now is honestly pathetic! If we want our students to receive a proper learning experience and be able to produce on the same level with the likes of Dal and SMU (and virtually all other universities) changes need to be made! We all know the brilliance of our students and we deserve appropriate methods to express this brilliance. PLEASE sign this petition and let your opinions be heard: our words carry a lot of power and there is power in numbers! Let's try to make a difference for ourselves and future students! As well, an external review is being conducted throughout the Psychology Department. As students, this is a great opportunity to express any issues, along with any bright spots, in order to build a better future for psychology at Mount St. Vincent University.
