As a former LGBT student at Klein Oak, I am disappointed by this stance. Klein Oak's administration must do everything in their power to hold the school up as a symbol of diversity, inclusion, and respect for others. If it refuses to allow and protect trans involvement, it is sending a message to it's students and the community of complicity in the face of intolerance. A young man is attempting to take a courageous stance in support of what he believes in, unafraid of the bullies, and in doing so, is showing more courage than his administrators, who are balking in the face of the kind of potential controversy that is a daily reality for trans youth. Klein Oak should take this opportunity to show its students that transphobia and bullying are not acceptable, and aggressively protect the rights of ALL students to shine, to grow, and to be active participants both in school and in the social dialogue of our country.

To the school's administrators and faculty: please realize the sad reality of this situation and change it for the better. No one deserves to be excluded from something because of something as basic and simple as their sexuality. This is just unfair. I hope you all realize that this kind of treatment hurts.

This is the 21st century. We are not in back woods Alabama. We are in an area of diversity. In a city that had a lesbian mayor. In a city that is welcoming of all. Why is it that this school isn't welcoming of all? I know there are many legislatures and state board of education members that would be appalled to hear this is taking place.

KO can't keep bullying people. Their admin and staff is the reason I dropped out.
It's one thing to let students bully but it's another when the admin themselves do it.
Because of KO I had to work so much harder for my education... Which in the end is all I wanted.
While I left that in the past, I will be damned if I let them bully another student!

Go Link! As a former KO student, I am disgusted they are not allowing you to participate. Just because a few people are afraid of tension, you have a large crowd supporting you. Give him a chance KO administration! Let him represent his club! Everyone should have an equal opportunity right? So why not him?
