This petition aims to uphold the rule of law; Initiative NO. 148 Montana Medical Marijuana Act adopted by Montana’s voters on November 2nd, 2004 with an overwhelming 62% majority vote. It also aims to prevent local and county politicians from violating the civil rights of caregivers and patients.

*Please note: July 7th, 2010 at 6PM in Belgrade, Montana there is a scheduled city council meeting to vote against caregivers' civil rights to do business in the city. The city council is using a zoning loophole to get around the rule of law. We would like to see a large turnout of fellow patients and caregivers along with those who share our views on civil liberties and smaller government.

I am gathering documentation on the zoning ordinances being cited by city officials to challenge their legal basis. My next step involves submitting a formal demand letter to the council members before the upcoming vote.

The growth of this petition has secured us a meeting with legal counsel to discuss the zoning loopholes currently being exploited in Belgrade. We are preparing a formal brief to present at the upcoming city council proceedings to address these specific civil rights violations.

My back pain has been manageable for the first time in years because of this act. Dont take my meds away over some stupid zoning law.
Ridiculous that they think they can just ignore a statewide vote because they dont like it. See you at the council meeting.
Small government means staying out of doctors business. Leave the patients alone and focus on real issues.
The people voted for this. Why are they trying to ignore what the majority of us wanted back in 2004? Stop messing with our rights.
So tired of these politicians playing games with peoples health. Its our right and we voted for it fair and square.
