I have not been enrolled in this school, nor will I since I live far away, but I still know that these kids have the right to wear what they want and display their personalities through clothing. Kids these days see dyed hair, neon, and more just about everywhere they go so often that it's considered normal and not distracting now. In fact, more than half of the kids at my current school wear neon clothes, some have dyed their hair (most dye their hair a natural color but others also dye theirs other colors and that should be okay), and I myself couldn't live without wearing my t-shirts. Limits on makeup should be a rule- no really crazy eye shadow, blush, face paint, etc., but it should be allowed to boost some student's self esteem (I know people who feel more confident in themselves in makeup). Hugging should be allowed no matter what- it's a sign of friendship and caring for each other. If society decided to completely ban hugging, then what'd become of some relationships in the world? I can agree with some of the dress code and other rules (no kissing since it's a pretty serious PDA and actually distracting, no showing bra straps since it can be distracting for boys, etc). Nonetheless, I want these kids to feel happy and free to express themselves through their actions and clothing. If a girl wants to show her other side and wears modest Gothic or "dark" clothing, should she be suspended? No! Should a boy be suspended for getting a faux-hawk? No! No matter age, race, etc., people always want to express themselves and always should be expressing themselves. These rules are doing nothing to keep students from being distracted and instead keep them from showing their individuality.

I agree that the dress code is far too strict - it is very difficult to find kids' clothes without prohibited colors and with uniform designs, plus a rule for shorts and skirts even stricter than back in the day when girls had to wear dresses. And the whole hair issue - all of the children see "unnatural" hair colors and cuts anywhere they go - frequently on their own parents. I am grateful that my child won't have to put up with this nonsense next year.

It'd be amazing if this works ❤️ We're not allowed to wear shorts, they have to be almost down to your knees and I think that's completely unreasonable for when it's 100 degrees outside.

I went to this school and graduated last year. It's so upsetting how much it's changed. I want it back to normal.

I understand the need for guidelines, but you need to encourage individuality more than conformity. You want to make leaders, not followers.

My son had to turn his shirt inside-out because it didn't follow dress-code standards. The shirt was solid grey, with one single American flag on it. I was shocked to here that this shirt, with our flag was unacceptable attire.

The rules at this school are outrageous. They are way to strict. It is merely impossible to find blank t-shirts that kids LIKE. And with the amount of peer pressure faced to kids these days makes them feel like they are not cool with wearing a blank t-shirt. Not only that but you would have to have another set of clothes for the weekend that kids do feel okay about wearing.
