In 1535, Jacques Cartier sailed down the St. Lawrence and visited the fortified Iroquoian village of Hochelaga. The location of the village has become a National Heritage Site of Canada, but the village itself no longer exists. Instead, on top of the former village, lies McGill University. To commemorate the village Parks Canada placed a rock on McGill's downtown Campus. It faces a fence on the Lower Field between Roddick Gates and the McLennan library. It is a terrible location and most students don't know it exists. We must reclaim this important part of Iroquoian and Canadian history. Let us work together and move the rock!
