This makes perfect sense. We have the tools and know how to use them. We can be more productive and less wasteful of time, money and carbon if we go on-line.

The time is now, this is urgent.

Hybrid conference will extend participation to students, faculty with limited travel funds, and those in foreign countries. The online 2020 SAA conference was a big success

A hybrid conference for this year and in the future will ensure more equitable to conference networking and scholarship and will contribute effectively to the huge effort needed to address the global climate crisis.

I certainly agree that a hybrid option should be offered this year and ideally in the future as well. While the health situation may improve, the environmental and social justice issues will remain, and can hopefully be addressed in part by making conference access easier and more equitable for all.

For all the reasons already stated in the petition and comments, I fully support this effort!

There is a lot of potential. Two smaller conferences I co- organized in 2021 were well attended.

A hybrid meeting is the safest, most inclusive and environmentally friendly choice, while still providing significant opportunity for intellectual interraction.

I agree wholeheartedly with this effort. We cannot continue to meet exclusively in-person if we are serious about health and equity. The pandemic has given us the tools and opportunity to make our meetings, not only more environmentally friendly, but also more inclusive ... likely doubling or tripling attendance, membership, and engagement in the process. This is a win-win for the SAA.

Online/hybrid is a matter of equity and diversity access, as many scholars both abroad and at home face financial and family restrictions on conference travel (expenses of registration, flights, hotels, meals out, and costly substitutes for child/elder care responsibilities). One of the (few) silver linings of the pandemic is the recognition that online meetings provide high-quality opportunities for scholarly interaction that enable equal access for all of the members of our intellectual community.

This day and age we really need to move to a hybrid format based on the reasons given. Please consider.
