What We Want: Classes at Fontbonne University to be moved online
When: March 16th
Why: Covid-19 has an incubation period up to two weeks where the host is asymptomatic but still contagious! Furthermore, the virus can exist outside the body for up to three days as emerging research shows. Waiting for a student to be infected is a terribly flawed plan as by the time one student is confirmed 100s might have been exposed already! Most students at Fontbonne are also commuters who return to their families everyday after school. Not only is this policy putting students in unnecessary risk, but our families and the community of STL. Many organizations, events planners, and schools in STL and the United States have recognized this risk and have taken the necessary action to minimize it. Fontbonne policy is contrary to this and is simply dangerous and unacceptable.
What you can do: Please sign up for this petition so we can uniformly voice our disapproval of this dangerous policy to the leadership of Fontbonne. Share this with fellow students, friends, and family as this affects them too. Reach out to the staff of Fontbonne and voice your concerns. If you personally feel you are in danger do not attend class. Take care of your own and family’s health.

WE ARE BLASTING TOWARD 500 SIGNATURES AND I NEED EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU TO BLAST THIS LINK TO EVERY CLASS GROUP CHAT RIGHT NOW!! THIS MOMENTUM IS ABSOLUTELY ELECTRIC AND WE NEED TO KEEP FUELING THE FIRE UNTIL FONTBONNE FINALLY HEARS US LOUD AND CLEAR!!

This is a critical period for “social distancing” if we want to “flatten the curve” and not overwhelm our healthcare system. If the issue is the challenge of setting up remote instruction, please be frank about that and take the time needed.
Some teachers are already moving classes online, instead of having such a piecemeal response Fontbonne should just go online. Being one the last schools to not close will not win Fontbonne any awards or public favor, fighting this will only cost them in the end. God forbid if any students get sick, they will be open for a lawsuit for endangerment or worse.
We are now under a national emergency because of the situation created by this virus. St. Louis has declared a State of Emergency, and Missouri Governor Parson is expected to announce the same at 5pm today. Let’s not wait any further to take precautionary actions to help keep our students safe.
I have a father that has survived thought cancer but his immune system is really bad. I rather struggle with online classes than bring a virus to my home that has a good chance of killing my family members. If all the school have closed around us. I think it would be the best that we do the same.
I would appreciate it if my daughter, who attends Fontbonne, could continue her classes online. She is living at home with her retired parents. Both of us have recently had cancer and we really do not want her bringing any viruses home with her as we might be more susceptible to it. All the other universities are going to online classes so Fontbonne should follow suit.
As a fontbonne university alumni, I recognize how problematic the Corona virus issue can be to student matriculation. I wish to urge the university to allow classes to continue online where students can continue the education, in a safer atmosphere until these issues have been dealt with altogether.

So now a teacher at fontbonne who studies infectious diseases is moving her classes online because she disagrees with keeping classes face-to-face because it is risking not only the students but those the students come in contact with.
