I have been hearing from so many of you who just want our homes to feel like our own rather than identical units in a catalog. I am currently working on a formal proposal to present to the board that emphasizes how stifling these current door restrictions have become for our community.

Seeing this much support for changing our door rules reminds me why I started this fight for our homes. It feels incredible to know so many neighbors share this desire for individuality in our own front doors.

The rule in question does nothing for the quality of life in GHI. Nor does it promote respect for GHI's rules in general. Rather, it has proven to be a liability and burden, on GHI's staff, committee, Board and thus, GHI itself - not to mention individual members. It has nothing to show for this burden.
5 F Ridge Road My block house was completed in 1936. The current choices do not reflect the all artistic influences of that time. Please broaden the choices.
GHI member (62 Ridge). The buildings all look the same which I think is plenty for keeping the historical character. Please let the doors have various designs.
This rule needs to be changed. GHI is a community that simultaneously embraces individuality as well as uniformity.
I would love to be able to have a different choice of doors. Especially a door with stained glass.

GHI continues to move away from its roots. Soon it will be just another suburban community. I want the original door on my unit or doors that reflect the late 30’s architecture. Door choices that reflect that style should be an option.
