We, the students of AUA, find the following conditions at AUA to be intolerable and unacceptable, especially in light of the recent raise in tuition. We have been patient. We have been trusting of promises made to us by administration and IT. SGAs of all classes have done their best to help the situation. We now find it necessary to quantitatively measure the extent of our frustration with this petition. All signed below are prepared to extend our dissatisfaction to various social media outlets and websites for Caribbean medical schools should these conditions not be corrected immediately.

  • Presently, there is not enough study space. While administration may be able to come into the study areas and count empty seats, this does NOT mean there is enough space for students to effectively study. Cramming students one next to the other is not what a study space should be, given the fact that it leads to ineffectual study due to constant bumping of chairs, lack of space for our backpacks, and the need to constantly hunt for a place to study. This situation has led to the claiming of real estate which has led to all out confrontations in the library. To think that cramming more students into the empty seats will solve this situation is a combination of denial and foolery. To add insult to injury, we all find ourselves in this situation because we have lost our beloved 3rd floor study hall so that members of administration may have nice, spacious offices. We respectfully request that the 3rd floor study space be reopened immediately and if this is not possible, additional classrooms need to opened on a daily basis. This means they cannot be occasionally closed for other purposes.
  • Echo lecture capture needs to be updated. SGA has been told by IT time and again, that the problem has been fixed, and time and again, we have lecture captures with no audio. Attending class is not the answer to this problem since even those of us who attend class NEED to recapture the class due to poor acoustics that prevent us from taking effective notes during class time. Additionally, Lecture Capture is an extremely important and necessary study tool for EVERY student. At the very least, personnel from IT need to attend every class in order to assure that audio is working. This last request is due to the fact that IT has repeatedly promised SGA that the problem has been fixed, when the complete opposite is the case.
