Pigs on factory farms are often crowded and have little room to move. These farms try to cut down on costs and this in turn means that pigs are crowded and and do not get a lot of fresh air. We want to create a law that treats pigs humanely and allows them some space to move.

We are group of 5th graders that are working together on a solution to this problem. Here is what we are proposing:

Pork farms will be required to provide at least a 3 yard radius pen per pig. This size of pen would let the pig move and exercise in a humane manner. Exceptions would be made if a nursing mother requires a smaller pen for safety. This regulation would be monitored during normal safety inspections by the USDA.
